The performance “Camino Medieval – The Long Journey Of Faith” reconstructs one of the most important medieval pilgrimages, the Camino de Santiago de Compostela as a network of cultural and spiritual exchange. The program includes music from Codex Calixtinus and Codex Las Huelgas, as well as songs by troubadours and trouvères. Authentic melodies and liturgical hymns, accompanied by medieval instruments, create a mystical soundscape, offering an experience that connects past and present.
This project is sponsored by the Greek National Opera and will be premiered as part of the Early Music Festival, scheduled for November 29th 2026 at the Alternative Stage of the Greek National Opera.
Pos de chantar m'es pres talenz, Farai un vers, don sui dolenz: Mais non serai obedienz En Peitau ni en Lemozi. Since I feel like singing, I'll write a verse I grieve over: I shall never be a vassal anymore in Poitiers nor in Limoges As the desire to sing takes hold of me, I will make a song about my sorrow; I will no longer be a servant of love In Poitou nor in Limousin. (William IX, Duke of Aquitaine)
